Preposition Removal Tips
1. Treat this like a puzzle...engage your brain in the same way you would any other puzzle...it works better that way.
2. Look for prepositions with verbs first...phrases like "I will look up the meaning"...look up....explore. There is almost ALWAYS a single, better verb that we can substitute for a verb+prep combo. "I will give up" could be "I will relinquish." "She turned in her paper" could be "she submitted her paper."
3. This doesn't really happen quickly. It's part of the giant puzzle of the paper. These are the word combinations you might think of for days until they hit you (there...I almost wrote: "until they come to you" but "come to" is a 2-word verb+prep phrase, so I went with "hit.")
4. Look for prepositions that show possession: Queen of England...England's Queen; the boss of the corporation....the corporation's boss; the teacher of the class...the class' teacher; the member of the team...the team member.
